1. Recently found while researching:
A note sent to Karyn Kupcinet before her murder in her Hollywood apartment reads “You may die without nobody, winner of loneliness wants death until one someone special cares.” The note, on a loose-leaf sheet of ruled paper, was made with paste-ups of newspaper clippings, and looks like a “ransom” note. Kupcinet, an aspiring actress, and daughter of Chicago columnist Irv Kupcinet was killed on November 30, 1963.

  2. Oh, Westwood!

So, this is what I ran into on my walk home from campus yesterday (after turning in my first final paper - woohoo!):

Cate’s dress might have been the shiniest thing I’ve ever seen in my life.  Oh, and these guys were there too:

Here’s my phone version of the above photo (the one day I didn’t have my camera with me!):

Turns out it’s not so horrible to have to walk through screaming throngs when Brangelina and Cate are on the other side of the barricades.  Way better than when I practically had to crowd surf to Whole Foods the night of the Twilight premiere.

Apparently J.Lo was there too, but we left before she arrived.  And there was a pretty stellar paparazzi tumble in the street but I couldn’t find any video of it…

  3. Guess who I saw in a bar last night!  Sarah Haskins!  We even awkwardly crossed paths in the bathroom!  No one else was as excited as me (okay, at all), but it was hands down my favorite LA ‘celebrity’ sighting thus far.

Haskins’s Target Women is definitely the highlight of Current’s altogether great show, InfoMania.  And I pretty much wanna be her BFF.  Like, to the point where I would even be on a Paris Hilton/Brody Jenner-style reality show about it.

  4. Because in this stressful time of economic crisis / finals / holiday parties, we all need a little Mariah on a Friday afternoon.

WAIT.  Is it even the holiday season?

I HAVE NO IDEA BECAUSE LOS ANGELES IS INSANE AND IT IS 75 DEGREES OUTSIDE.

(This one goes out to Ryan, who apparently still has a Friendster profile.)

  5. Turns out the LA Public Library has an amazing photo archive.  And it’s all been digitized!  Kind of wish I hadn’t found this, because I could easily get lost in a sea of links and never be productive again.  But I did, and I will have to deal with it - and so will you!
Check out my homegirl Irene Dunne christening the S.S. Carole Lombard with Clark Gable and Louis B. Mayer.
